#5 - It was originally supposed to be the final chapter of a trilogy, and it remained that way for quite some time until it eventually got a sequel. The franchise's since continued with many more releases.
Though it was a trilogy, all three games were released on different consoles, one of them a handheld. The eventual 4th game would also be released on a handheld, but while the franchise's had many releases since, none have been a continuation of this main story.

Super Metroid?
