It was clear that Sony ,as producer of their consoles and most of its components ,could lower the manufacturing costs faster that MS. Now the PS3 will be about the same as the Elite and with the BR drive ,retrocompatibility with PS1 and PS2 ,Linux ,free online etc .Good value sure .

If Sony was really agressive they should lower the price even more .450 and especially 400 are the sweet spots to touch way greater demographics that the current ones.

Foxconn and Asustek are the ones who actually make the PS3, just like Wistron makes the 360. Sony is no different than Microsoft with regards to manufacturing.

And is anyone else amazed that people are calling $400 a "sweet spot" or hailing $500 as the price that will move millions of consoles? Both prices are the same as, or more than, any other "successful" console launched at. With a $100 price cut, the PS3 is still ridiculously expensive and $400 is the same as the 360 launch point. WTF?
