As for the comparison with your previous build... you win with your CPU, but lose with the GPU.

I was starting to figure that out more and more as I'm doing research.  Still trying to wrap my head around the numbers when trying to compare apples to oranges (processors by different manufacturers).  But if I understand correctly, the CPU is more important in this case when considering a GPU upgrade in the future.  Would this be the correct line of logic?  And I'm looking at buying this monitor:
