First of all, congrats on your purchase, I hope it gives you many hours of fun. What monitor are you looking for? If you can, try to get an IPS monitor (nowadays, there are a few that are quite cheap), to enjoy the better colours.
As for the comparison with your previous build... you win with your CPU, but lose with the GPU.
