For me an open world game's first priority is to present me with an interesting world I can roam in and do everything I like. I put on my favorite music or stream and just get lost in the world while doing my shit. You know what doesn't help there? Overly convoluted quests with tons of dialogue that require me to pay attention, or even worse, want me to give a shit about characters.

I can't recall a single open world game where I gave even half a shit about the side quests, let alone the main quest. Let me have my mindless fetch quests that relax and make me appreciate the pretty open world and its mechanics.
