America nearly has it all such as energy independence, semiconductors/telecommunications, aerospace technology, and especially biotechnology. 3 out of the 4 listed are highly complex and they've only taken steps to rectify one of them (semiconductors/telecommunications) and they've been feeling the shock over the years when the US has blocked acquisitions of Lattice Semiconductors, Micron, Qualcomm and has barred Chinese semiconductor manufacturers from accessing DRAM fabrication equipment ...

China's best bet for obtaining energy independence is hoping that nuclear fission can come down in costs soon enough because finding a cost effective way to store renewable energy is not realistic alternative for them ...

As for biotechnology, America is in a class of it's own even compared to all of Europe combined since they hold tons of clinical trials for searching the best possible drug candidates so it might take a whole decade or more for China to catch up in this category ...
