The lasers weren't moving that fast if characters like Link could react to them, but looked again and you're right Sonic was trying to help Pikachu, heh a decent excuse I suppose. Been a while since I played the game, but Bayonettas's witch time that you've seen in Smash renders her untouchable, there's definitely no getting around that one unless I forgot something. To my knowledge the Warpstar cannot instantaneously warp, but it would be fast enough to escape anyway.
