It's a great game, doesn't beat BotW imo. It needs a whole lot smoother gameplay to keep me going after completing the story. I also doubt I'll come close to the 130 hours I spend in Skyrim in VR. With the current implementation of the first person camera RDR2 would be barf city in VR. I prefer the first person view yet often have to look away or concentrate on the radar not to get sick from the wild camera movements when interacting with things.

It comes close to God of War which has a more satisfying progression system and much smoother gameplay. RDR2's world is more fun to explore though. GoW beats it in the graphics department due to its excellent use of HDR and wide color, however the weather system keeps exploring and simply existing in RDR2's world interesting no matter how many times you re-visit areas. Then Spider man is so polished and controls so perfectly it's a worthy contender for goty as well. Amazing year!

Now what's this bullshit profanity check filter. I just bought my second horse, an Arabian, and wanted to call it Hoarse. What's wrong with Hoarse and why are you bothering me with a profanity check in my single player game.

I was otw to pick up a Varmint rifle to shoot rabbits, then I wondered why hunt rabbits just get get a bigger satchel for crap I don't use anyway. That's kind of the problem I have with the challenges, hunting and collectibles. It all just seems to be for cosmetic items or minor upgrades you don't need. You bet your ass you need to craft and upgrade in GoW to beat the Valkyries. And in Spiderman the upgrades were very useful as well. In RDR2, while hunting is fun, the rewards seem pretty pointless.

The special moves with the horse seem to have no function either. Where's the move to trample a snake or other animal. Rear kick an attacking wolf. Why is my horse so utterly defenseless when it comes to animal attacks. The only thing he's good at is tripping over a rock or tree stump or running into a tree and losing his cargo. And while hunting he's either breathing down my neck, making the horse menu pop up continuously, or he wanders off and I have to whistle for a minute to get him to come back.

Great world to explore, yet the longer I play, the more the little things start adding up. However then I simply stop somewhere, gawk at the scenery, take some time lapse footage and the frustrations fall away again.
