Friday news, part two:

Hellgate: London is coming back, again
https://www.pcgamer.com/hellgate-london-is-coming-back-again/
Hellgate: London debuted in 2007 with an interesting setup that was brought low by half-baked execution. It went under a couple of years later, came back as a free-to-play MMO that didn't really go anywhere, took a run at Steam Greenlight in 2014, and I'm not really sure what happened after that, to be honest. It's been quite a ride. And it's not over yet, because HanbitSoft, which acquired the rights to the game a decade ago and redeveloped it as Hellgate London: Resurrection in South Korea, is bringing it back to Steam in November.

Swords and Soldiers 2 Shawarmageddon multiplayer beta is live and open to everyone
https://www.pcgamer.com/swords-and-soldiers-2-shawarmageddon-multiplayer-beta-is-live-and-open-to-everyone/
Awesomenauts developer Ronimo Games released Swords and Soldiers 2 for the Wii U in 2015, then earlier this year went to Kickstarter in search of funding for an updated PC and PS4 version called Swords and Soldiers 2 Shawarmageddon. That didn't work out very well, but the developers said it would launch later this year anyway. Such optimistic promises often fade away and are forgotten, but not in this case: The game is set to come out on November 6, and a multiplayer open beta is now underway.

Layers of Fear 2 revealed, set to come out next year

Project Méliès was teased in March as the codename for the next project in the works at Bloober Team—which is a surprising name for the developer of games including Layers of Fear and Observer. (Seriously, who calls a horror game studio "Bloober Team?") Today publisher Gun Media rolled out a teaser revealing that the "new masterpiece" behind Méliès is actually Layers of Fear 2.

The Room 3 is finally headed to Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-room-3-is-finally-headed-to-steam/
Puzzle game The Room was originally released for iOS devices in 2012, and was a big hit—enough that a PC version was eventually launched on Steam in 2014. The Room 2 came to mobiles in 2013, and Steam in 2016. And in keeping with that pattern, The Room 3, which hit iOS hardware in 2015, will finally arrive on Steam on November 13.

A new Yooka-Laylee update will make it look more like a Nintendo 64 game
https://www.pcgamer.com/a-new-yooka-laylee-update-will-make-it-look-more-like-a-nintendo-64-game/
In its efforts to channel the colourful, collect 'em up platformers of the Nintendo 64 era, studio Playtonic Games forgot one crucial element when it developed Yooka-Laylee: the game didn't look murky enough. It was crisp and lively and joyous, even if it did launch with some teething problems. But now – presumably after popular demand – the studio is releasing a patch that will make the game look more like something from the 1990s. It's optional, mercifully enough.

Scum's adding heart attacks to deal with a player who won't stop eating
https://www.pcgamer.com/scums-adding-heart-attacks-to-deal-with-a-player-who-wont-stop-eating/
Last month we told you about one player's quest to become the heaviest character in Scum, testing the limits of the simulationist survival game by chowing down on the undead. He's up to 400 kilograms now, by the way.
Speaking to PC Gamer at PAX Australia, Devolver Digital co-founder Graeme Struthers explained that Scum's creators are well aware of this heroic effort. "There is one guy on Reddit who has attracted quite a lot of attention because he's trying to figure out the most efficient way of getting fat," Struthers said. "The implication of that will be a heart attack, because in real life you'd reach that point. Those kind of things will start to be added in, so that's probably going to be the end of eating zombie fat."
>>That's taking things too far, from both sides. But at least it's a funny confrontation.

Ni no Kuni 2 reveals 'The Lair of the Lost Lord' DLC, due in 2018
https://www.pcgamer.com/ni-no-kuni-2-reveals-the-lair-of-the-lost-lord-dlc-due-in-2018/
Austin billed Ni no Kuni 2 as "one the best JRPGs on PC". That's hardly faint praise, and while its first slice of added content didn't add too much to the Revenant Kingdom (it was free, after all), its first portion of premium DLC sounds more whole wholesome. It's due "this winter".

For Honor Halloween event returns with skeletons and smashing pumpkin heads
https://www.pcgamer.com/for-honor-halloween-event-returns-with-skeletons-and-smashing-pumpkin-heads/
Last year, For Honor dived into Halloween with its Feast of the Otherworld event. This year, it's back for seconds—The Return of the Overworld is live now through November 8.
With it comes armies of skeleton warriors, challenges, quests, rewards, and a man whose head is transformed into a pumpkin that he then lifts off and splatters over the floor. There's an sentence I didn't expect to write today.

Just Cause 4 'panoramic trailer' tailored for 4K ultra-widescreen monitors
https://www.pcgamer.com/just-cause-4-panoramic-trailer-tailored-for-4k-ultra-widescreen-monitors/
I don't have a widescreen monitor, so the trailer above is a wee bit wasted on me. I mean, it's nice to see more of Just Cause 4, in any event. And I'm guessing loads of you lot have widescreen monitors, so this doesn't feel like an entirely wasted exercise.

Elite Dangerous Beyond—Chapter Four explains how Scenarios impact factions
https://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-beyondchapter-four-explains-how-scenarios-impact-factions/
Elite Dangerous' Beyond—Chapter Four kicks off next week, with destructible asteroids and "significant additions" to its exploration, mining and multiplayer. Last night, community manager Will Flanagan, exec producer Adam Woods and senior level designer Adam Bourke-Waite uncovered more on the latest update's Scenarios.
