I don't really understand the point of having a seperate score of a game based on the platform.

The distinction is still important when, say, the game releases on platform A with a lot of technical issues not necessarily related to the hardware, but it also releases on platform B where there are no issues whatsoever. Though, ideally, this comes with the precondition that outlets publish reviews of all versions of the game.
