Its about gaming experiences. The PS2 provided new, innovative experiences - and owned the market before the GC or XBOX could even make an impact.
The PS3 just isn't doing enough that the PS2 can't do. Its going to take a while to produce products that are truly innovative on the PS3, in such a way that the games were *impossible* on the PS2 gen.
The Wii on the other hand, is all about new gaming experiences - and the games that are doing this the best, are the ones selling well (and with legs).
The exception are the "fan" games - ones with such a strong fanbase, that the fans will buy any platform to play the game.
