I think you misread the intentions of Persona Q. They just wanted to have something similar to the games they were already making for Nintendo handhelds, but to see how much of their fanbase was on the platform. I've never heard anyone suggest that PQ/PQ2 were ever attempts to grow their fanbase. If they wanted to do that, they wouldn't have made them first person dungeon crawlers.

And what's this about a global reputation for JRPGs? Switch hasn't come close to having that reputation yet. I would hope that Atlus/Sega does indeed port Q2 to Switch so that it has a better chance of being successful.

I agree that that it was never about Nintendo perse,  but in my eyes more to do with milking and the 3DS with Etrian Odyssey was the perfect platform for a cheap Persona offshoot just like they had identified  fighting and dancing genres to be a quick and cheap way to exploit Persona's rise as a brand, and in their eyes besides the money, and it always leads to money ,generate even more brand awareness, but the downside is overexploitation  can cheapen the very brand your trying to grow.
