The relevancy of consoles is not that dependent on power though before 6-7 years of age.

It's dependent on memory though. The 5GB available for games is a bottleneck on ps4, just as the 256 mb graphics ram last gen severely crippled some games on ps3. More memory also helps loading times as more things can be kept in memory without having to be reloaded from disk. As games get bigger and bigger, load times are going to be a challenge. Game sizes outpace affordable SSD storage for now.

I am not sure. Playstation is such a big brand within gaming, having the best selling consoles of all time. At least for a span of 6-7, developers won't change whether or not they release a game on a console based on memory. Rather, the majority of the industry will focus on maintaining a much lower ceiling for possible technological advances in games to accomadate consoles. You mention the PS3 for example, which had a 7 year lifespan, and the Xbox 360 in that same gen had an 8 year lifespan, which are above average.

I do hope the ram count is 24GB, since I see the effect of limited RAM on PS4 quite often.
