Woo, finished the DLC about an hour ago. I knew what was coming and I still cried. What a wild ride, I'm sad it's over. Guess I still have a lot of side quests to do. The game isn't over until I get Mythra to S-rank!
In terms of pros and cons, I'd say:
+Really solid cast of characters (camp scenes are pretty fun as a result)
+Gameplay feels more refined
+Being able to control Mythra...well Blades in general
+More exposition on Amalthus, Malos, and Jin and Lora's relationship
+Best final boss sequence I've played since Metal Gear Rising
+Mythra in general
-Anti-climax was unnecessary, as was the whole plot with Gort
-Could have removed Minoth from the game and I wouldn't have even noticed
-Mandatory side-quests
noname2200 said: Finally beat Torna. It had lots of good points, from the music to the battle system (ease of putting up elemental orbs aside), but in terms of impacting the base game's story I have to admit it makes the Aegis War seem small, and it confirms my belief that Jin is just a weak and whiny little bitch. No idea why Mythra and Azurda talked his mopey ass up...and Takahashi needs to either learn how to write a proper sympathetic villain, or (better yet) just give up that trope already. I also don't get why Rex is supposed to resemble Addam. Also, what was the third titan that went down? I only counted two. I liked Malos even more though! |
I never really got that impression about Jin in the DLC, he seemed like a quiet bishounen for most of it. His post-Lora arc I feel could have elaborated a little more, but that was more of a complaint for the main game, and not one I cared much about anyway. I guess I've seen the fallen hero type character enough in JRPGs I just roll with it now.
I agree about the scope of the Aegis War, though the final fight was so insane I forgave it. What I found more surprising was how little time Mythra and Addam actually spent together, she only bonded with him a year before the start of the prequel. Also that Addam was apparently married to an unnamed woman the whole time.
I was expecting Addam to be more Rex-like at first, but I think the comparison was pretty general. Both are reckless optimists, put others before themselves, and have an air of levity about them that Mythra/Pyra are drawn to. Pretty broad given those are basic MC tropes...but I suppose in-universe its probably less common.
No idea about the Titans...I would just assume there are unnamed Titans out there we don't know anything about, just like the Coeaian one or whatever they mentioned in this game.
