Friday news, part two:
Get eaten by a Megalodon for free this weekend in underwater battle royale Last Tide
https://www.pcgamer.com/get-eaten-by-a-megalodon-for-free-this-weekend-in-underwater-battle-royale-last-tide/
Last Tide is an Early Access battle royale that, like The Little Mermaid, takes place under the sea. Players enter the arena in mini-subs, fire harpoons at each other, and avoid the closing circle of death that isn't comprised of poison gas but killer sharks. Speaking of sharks, Last Tide has just added the biggest one: the Megalodon. As you can see in the trailer above, it's really quite large! And you can get eaten by it for free, starting right now and lasting for the weekend.
>>Try it out on Steam for the next 1 day and 19 hours or so.
Fortnite's boob physics are an 'embarrassing and unintended' mistake, will be fixed
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnites-boob-physics-are-an-embarrassing-and-unintended-mistake-will-be-fixed/
Fortnite Season 6 has arrived, and there's an awful lot going on. Backpack pets. Shadow Stones. 100 new cosmetics. But one thing stands out from all the rest: Calamity's new, um, moves.
Calamity's new jiggle is not a sign that Fortnite is headed into Dead or Alive territory, (which recently committed to toning down its breast physics). Epic told me via email that the movement is a bug, not a feature.
Bethesda responds to player anger over new Elder Scrolls: Legends client
https://www.pcgamer.com/bethesda-responds-to-player-anger-over-new-elder-scrolls-legends-client/
The new client for The Elder Scrolls: Legends that Bethesda announced in May finally went live earlier this week, and the response has surely not been what either the publisher or new developer Sparkypants Studio were hoping for. Numerous threads and comments on the TESL subreddit and Bethesda own forums are heavily critical of the new design, color scheme, animations and effects, updated voice acting, and more.
Magic: The Gathering Arena is now in open beta
https://www.pcgamer.com/magic-the-gathering-arena-is-now-in-open-beta/
After most of a year closed to the public, Magic: The Gathering Arena is in open beta starting today. We’ve taken several looks at MTG Arena in its closed state, but the open beta is anybody’s game, with an special event already announced. Players have access to the latest Magic card set, Guilds of Ravnica, and the game’s sealed draft format. Perhaps the most interesting thing is a special, free constructed deck even in the singleton style—meaning a deck can only have one copy of any given card. Further, for those who play paper Magic, the game’s physical retail products will now contain codes that can be redeemed for MTG Arena cards, a tactic we’ve not yet seen implemented in online card games at this scale.
You can download the client and register to play at the Magic: The Gathering Arena website.
Geralt turns up in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales 'story teaser'
https://www.pcgamer.com/geralt-turns-up-in-thronebreaker-the-witcher-tales-story-teaser/
CD Projekt announced today that Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, the 30-hour Witcher-based RPG that somehow grew out of a Witcher 3 mini-game, is now available for preorder. The studio also ran down the bonus content that will come with the game, although co-founder Marcin Iwiński clarified that preordering is not necessary to get it.
Wildstar is shutting down on November 28, Carbine plans special events to see it off
https://www.pcgamer.com/wildstar-is-shutting-down-on-november-28-carbine-plans-special-events-to-see-it-off/
NCsoft announced earlier this month that Carbine Studios, and its sci-fi MMO Wildstar, are being closed. Carbine has now announced that the shutdown will come on November 28, and will be preceded by "season in-game events" running on an accelerated schedule, so players can enjoy them all one last time.
The 10 nominees for PC Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards 2018
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-10-nominees-for-pc-game-of-the-year-at-the-golden-joystick-awards-2018/
As you might have spied elsewhere on PCGamer.com, voting is now open for the 36th Golden Joystick Awards. Doing so automatically nets you a free e-bookazine worth up to £15.99, so I reckon you should. But only if you opt for PC Gamer's own Annual 2018, obviously. Otherwise you're dead to me.
Head this way to cast your vote where you'll find 16 categories, including PC Gamer of the Year. There, you can choose from Battletech, Frostpunk, Into the Breach, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Opus Magnum, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, Subnautica, Surviving Mars, Two Point Hospital or Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
Devil May Cry 5 gameplay shows Dante hitting demons with his motorbike
https://www.pcgamer.com/devil-may-cry-5-gameplay-shows-dante-hitting-demons-with-his-motorbike/
In what might be the most Devil May Cry move ever, Dante can split his motorcycle into two massive axes to pulverise demons. He can also reassemble the bike and ride it into monster faces until they explode into a shower of blood red orbs, a move the combo system declares as 'SAVAGE!'
