Yeah see, I really liked it too, combat was great, it had some brilliant boss fights, and it looked bloody gorgeous back then too, still looks amazing on PC too! But according to some people it's not actually a "real" Castlevania game, lol. I never played the second one at all, but from what I saw, it looked like it took place in sort of modern day or something which was very offputting.

Ah yes of course, it is a different genre after all, but I wouldn't say it's terrible compared to the sidescroller game/s, just different, the lore is still interesting for me, maybe people just wanted the old school feel or just don't like the game to be 3D.
