If you haven't played those original 3 crash games they're a little strange and take some time to get used to compared to Mario, Crash can almost run off a platform and then jump so it's ideal to make the jump after you get to the ledge rather than before it, it really does take some getting used to if you didn't play them before like I said, but try it out, rather than early jump leave it til it would be too late in Odyssey for example.

Those 3 titles are genuinely hard games though, was something that a lot of reviewers complained about was the difficulty of Crash, but .... they've always been kinda tough.

I was always a Nintendo kid growing up so this is the first first I've played it. I actually tend to overshoot platforms on the bad sections. I don't mind toughness in a platformer, but it feels like false difficulty sometimes since I'm jumping correctly, but misjudging the distance due to poor visual design. In other 3D platformers you can usually adjust the camera and aren't required to have perfect precision and 2D platformers let you see the arc of the jump and judge distances, allowing them to require precise jumps. Like I said, the game is fun but I generally just have to tough it out during the annoying parts until I'm back to a fun section.
