Tuesday news, part two:

https://www.pcgamer.com/2k-asks-players-to-contact-local-government-about-belgian-loot-box-ban/
Now, publisher 2K has responded to the Belgian Gaming Commission's decision that loot boxes violate the country's gambling laws, with a number of changes to NBA 2K's in-game currency and purchases tied to its MyTeam packs. It has also asked NBA 2K players who reckon the publisher's practice now "comply with local laws" to "contact [their] local government representative to communicate [their] opinion."

>>Indeed. They have to thank their representatives to save them from such scam.

Enjoy 9 minutes of sneaky Sleeper hunting in a new GTFO gameplay video
https://www.pcgamer.com/watch-9-minutes-of-sneaky-sleeper-hunting-in-a-new-gtfo-gameplay-video/
GTFO is a multiplayer sci-fi horror game that looks a little (or maybe a lot) like Left 4 Dead smushed up with Aliens. Chris spent some time with it at E3 in June and it sounds potentially very good: He called it "a tense and creepy horror shooter that blends long periods of tense exploration and stealth with sudden freak-out bursts of chaotic gunplay."

https://www.pcgamer.com/crypt-of-the-necrodancer-dev-acquires-mech-strategy-game-phantom-brigade/
We first saw Phantom Brigade, an upcoming XCOM-inspired strategy game about giant robots with memorable pilots, at PAX West 2017. Last week, developer Tetragon Works announced that it has merged with Brace Yourself Games, the creator of delightful musical dungeon crawler Crypt of the Necrodancer, which is also working on an industrial city sim called Industries of Titan. The pair announced the merger alongside the teaser trailer above.

https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnites-high-stakes-limited-time-event-has-been-detailed/
Epic Games has announced details for Fortnite's previously teased High Stakes limited time event. The highlight of the event is 'Getaway', a limited time squad mode where teams will fight over four safes dropped at random across the map. These safes must be reached, the jewels inside secured, and then taken to a van on the map. The first four teams to secure a jewel inside a van are the winners.

Quake Champions is getting classic 'The Longest Yard' map this month
https://www.pcgamer.com/quake-champions-is-getting-classic-the-longest-yard-map-this-month/
Quake Champions is getting one of the series' best-known maps in this month's content update. Originally featured in Quake 3 Arena, 'The Longest Yard' (or Q3DM17 to the hardcore), is a jump-pad strewn obstacle course suspended in the sky. Expect to plunge to your death with regularity, unless you've been playing on the thing since it originally released 19 years ago.

Shakedown Hawaii, the Retro City Rampage follow-up, has a new gameplay trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/shakedown-hawaii-the-retro-city-rampage-follow-up-has-a-new-gameplay-trailer/
Shakedown Hawaii, the Retro City Rampage follow-up, is a satirical swipe at white collar crime. Its latest trailer is a typical miscellany of weapons and speeding vehicles and explosions.
Billed as a standalone game—and "not Retro City Rampage 2"—Shakedown Hawaii parodies mega corporations and white collar crime. You fill the loafers of a dysfunctional and out of touch CEO, and you commit corporate and regular crime within a 16-bit city (against its forerunner's 8-bit aesthetic) that's brimming with sidequests.

Stunning sci-fi platformer Planet Alpha lands today, launch trailer launched
https://www.pcgamer.com/stunning-sci-fi-platformer-planet-alpha-lands-today-launch-trailer-launched/
Planet Alpha, the gorgeous sci-fi platformer from Team17 and Planet Alpha ApS, looks better every time I see it. Five years in the making, it's out later today.
Planet Alpha began life as a side project of one-time IO Interactive dev Adrian Lazar back in 2013. It's since grown into the above—filled with fast platforming, head-scratching puzzles, and stealth against its gorgeous art style.

Slow-burning sci-fi adventure HEVN gets slight delay (Updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/slow-burning-sci-fi-adventure-hevn-out-next-month/
Joe enjoyed the two-hour demo he played of HEVN, a slow-paced sci-fi game about exploring the faraway planet of Naic, comparing it to both Soma and Event[0]. That was more than a year ago, just before its release was delayed indefinitely. Developer Miga has spent the past 12 months fiddling with "the game's mechanics, story, balancing and pacing, as well as the overall look and feel", and has now slapped a new release date on it: September 7.
Update: As Sam writes in our original story below, I enjoyed the early segment I played of sci-fi exploration game HEVN last year. After some internal back and forth, it was due to launch in full later this week—but has now been pushed back by just over two weeks.

https://www.pcgamer.com/microtransactions-are-an-unfortunate-reality-of-modern-gaming-says-2k/
Earlier this week, NBA 2K19 developer 2K asked players to "contact local government" about the Belgian loot box ban. Now, a senior producer at the company has told Trusted Reviews (via PCGamesN) that its games' Virtual Currency "is an unfortunate reality of modern gaming."
