Yes, not every Zelda game sells like those 3, and not every game with Mario in it sells great either, but the point I'm making is that only these old Nintendo IPs are able to get critical acclaim and sell huge numbers. Nintendo's devs just don't have what it takes to get results without nostalgia it seems.

Except they did get critical acclaim and sell huge numbers.  Splatoon 2 likely has a 50% attach rate when you factor in digital.  That is HUGE, and when Sony only had 20 mil consoles in the wild, it failed go come close to those numbers with any of their 1st party games.

Sony consoles have a ton of great games other than just first party so sales of individual titles are understandably lower. I mean look at the the number of million sellers on a Sony console vs any Nintendo console. People just have a lot more to choose from rather than just a handful of games worth playing that a Nintendo console gets so everyone has to make do with them. Anyway it's been decades since Nintendo made an IP that managed both Critical acclaim and huge blockbuster sales. they've managed one or the other a couple times, but both at the same time probably hasn't happened since the 90s.
