Ever since they bought a Switch.

I feel they've been clear enough.

To be honest, this behavior doesn't seem like arrogant Sony. This seems like afraid Sony. Switch has been on a steamroll since its launch, so of course they're going to try any tactic to slow it down while they wait for their next-gen projects to complete.

Arrogant or scared or whatever is irrelevant. They pulled some BS and need to be called out on it.

"Back when it was PS360 if you had PS3 but all your friends had 360 and you wanted to play with them.....you got a damn 360. End of story."

>I appreciate the history lesson but the year is 2018 now, not 2013. We're not in the PS360 era anymore but Sony certainly helps it feel that way sometimes.

1. Features can be exclusives, Userbase is a feature

2. I can give you an idea, as I worked gaming retail throughout that entire Gen. It was basically the main claim to fame. By generation end when PS3 was getting tons of meaty exclusive games, the main thing that kept  people on 360 and buying 360 was that they were invested with their friend base. To move elsewhere would be forsaking being able to play with them and many have completely abandoned games that they can't play with friends.

3. Well in 2018 Userbase has not stopped being a selling point to decide which console you buy so it's relevance on why they would need to "protect" it still stands. People want Sony to be movable on this practice because it makes it more difficult for them to play on their COMPETITORS......insane. The gist of it is, the only reason to complain about this is if you A)Don't have a PS4 or B) Can't have a friend play with you because they don't have a PS4 and Sony's answer to both has been and still is ".....Buy a PS4."

4. I will agree having the accounts locked to the PS4/PC/Phone platform (without being warned) really sucks. Yet I think people are perceiving ill intention when It could be a byproduct of two factors. That the Game originally debuted on 2 platforms ,which have always worked harmoniously, then came Phone, XB1 and Switch, 2 of whom Sony is unwilling to allow access so they have a newer separate bubble that they work from. The Fortnite situation is kind of unprecedented in the realm of what has been allowed with crossplay. I really think it has more to do with how Fortnite was constructed then some deliberate thing Sony demanded from jump. Sony and Epic are at an empass because Sony is not budging on allowing crossplay with XB1/Switch and Epic is unwilling(or incapable w/o serious cost) of changing the Server screening system that they have already in place and feel only is an issue because of Sony's position.

If another crossplay game comes out and mysteriously has the same locked account situation I would be very much surprised.

1. I suppose so but according to this poll, it's a very minor factor.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/75726646

There seem to be other factors as well and "it's what my friends have" doesn't seem to show up.

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2015/02/26/the-top-reason-for-choosing-ps4-over-xbox-one-is-resolution-according-to-nielsen/

I do find a "Game Library" and two "Exclusive Games/Content" in the chart above which goes back to my point: no one I know of is asking for Sony to surrender PlayStation's exclusives. Such a request/expectation would be absurd.

2. So what's the count?

"The gist of it is, the only reason to complain about this is if you A)Don't have a PS4 or B) Can't have a friend play with you because they don't have a PS4 and Sony's answer to both has been and still is ".....Buy a PS4.""

3. Or C) some people are idealists and can see why an open industry would be great for consumers or D) want PlayStation to live up to their "4theplayers" marketing campaign or E) don't want Sony's head to get fatter.

4. I don't think it's a matter of technical difficulty. I suspect it's just Sony being asses.

Apparently, it's simple enough that it can be done by mistake. Happened twice as far as I know: September 2017 and January 2018.
