I wouldn't be surprised if Destiny 2 sales haven't had the pick up from the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions that they expected and it maybe that the different expansion passes  for Destiny 2 / Forsaken aren't selling at a rate  high enough to keep enough active players spending on Destiny while attracting new players  .

If my theories are correct then Destiny 2 on Plus might have been offered up for next to nothing, the timing with Forsaken just around the corner points that way, whatever the circumstance I can't see Sony instigating this especially without there being strong public expectation pushing for it to be on Plus.

next to nothing is probably too strong a description.

But i wouldnt be surprised if if the situation of D2, the release of the new DLC, and Sony having a marketing deal all worked together for a decent price point.

Your right I should have clarified that next to nothing comment , what I mean is  I expect that most of the time publishers offer up lots of different games for consideration knowing Sony need content for Plus then the negotiation starts from there, with Sony then picking up what suits it needs and budget, where this seems different is in  the type of game and the fact that it looks like it will act as another  gateway for the upcoming Expansion(s) , rather than being  the usual Plus game that's either an indie or a game just enough past its commercial prime to come cheap but still be somewhat attractive to their customers. unlike those games Destiny is ongoing but the value of Destiny 2 the game  is now as a base for the expansions and DLC,  because of this I feel that Destiny 2 being put on Plus might not be based on Sony offering money.
