I don't find anything wrong with women as this is just a game and I sure as hell wasn't hoping for an accurate depiction of WWII from this game but it simply doesn't look that good or new to me. What if you just aren't interested. It's also hilarious that they doubled down on the boots on the ground thing and it turns out that no one really cared lol.

I'm in the same boat. I'm in no way offended by the content. I just don't think the game looks interesting and fun to play.

Deserves them right. They were idiots for doing 2 old war games in a row. Should have been Vietnam

Yeah. I can't believe they didn't make Battlefield Vietnam this year and then Battlefield 2 (WW2) in a couple of years.

I guess this is just EA being EA (highly investor-driven and out of touch).

While the "women" contoresey definitely had some effect on pre-orders, it has more to do with the culmination of other things. First, people lost their confidence in EA, especially after last year's Battlefront fisco. Unless we have it on paper, at the moment, no one really knows what kind of paid BS they're gonna push this year. Second, we haven't seen BFV open beta yet. Third, we already had WW2 FPS game last year. Fourth, when the producer of the game tells you that if you don't like the game, don't buy it, you will have quite a lot of customers who will do just that, purely because of this stupid comment.
If EA guarantees no pay to win in this installment, the open beta turns out to be very good AND the game offers something fundamentally different from last CoD, we will see a different picture in terms of figures. At the moment people take "wait and see" approach, including me.

Of course some Battlefield fans seeking realism are turned off by the Fortnite-esque style, gameplay and story but I think you're right that EA's bad reputation coupled with WW-game saturation and BFV's limited public showings are more to blame for the low amount of preorders.
