The past has definitely shown that console makers will never ever go with high quaklity hardware and will first and foremost look on money before features or performance. I wouldn't say it's impossible though. It would give them a great excuse to not support backwards compatibility.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
