Should NS and wiiU be both labeled as 8th generation?

No hardware isn't relevant, otherwise Handhelds wouldn't be grouped into generations with home consoles. Time is the only factor.

if a console cant play newly released multiplats (current gen games) then does it really belong to the current gen?

The Switch wont get any PS5 / XB2 games ports, its tech is too old and weak for it.

 

As for handhelds... their gens onto themselves, ei compaired to other handhelds (imo).
We just lump them together with the other homeconsoles.
