The first versions of non-Nintendo consoles are always bad.

As for the original PS4 model, you can't blame Sony for your roommate fucking up your console. They only sell you the console, not a decent roommate to go with it
My launch PS4 is still working fine though, it's racked up a lot of mileage with trains and planes too, but still works perfectly fine. It did have a disc eject error for a little while but that fixed itself about 3 or 4 years ago.

Oh and if you're comparing to Nintendo consoles power really is a non-factor so the Pro releasing is irrelevant.

I have a launch unit PS4 and it perfectly works to this day (and honestly im pretty sure it will keep going until im done with it).
