Which fragmented marketplace before Steam are you talking about? There weren't digital distribution platforms to speak of before Steam.

Fragmented as in different stores and places to buy said games.

 

Look at what EA has done since leaving Steam, no mod support, buggy ports, expensive games, jesus just look at Sims 4's price worth in it's grand total (bloody insane). 



Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
