Exactly. If it’s not his own private school then it’s no different than the other public schools. If he wanted to make a public school then he could have poured all of that money into existing schools. Infrastructure, electronic and paper resources. Get them on a head start so their budget is easier to mange for awhile. There is a reason people go to these lotteries for a chance to get their kid in a charter school. The demand is crazy, they break down in tears when they win or lose. Public schools have failed multiple generations.

Lebron has his heart in the right place but he just wants to build it an move on. His democrat philosophy is in his way. He could do a non profit charter school. He could afford the best teachers annual salary. Any money that he gets from the school could be dumped right back into the school. Or even make more schools if the demand is there which it is. He should wait until he retires and then go all in. I think it’s a noble cause.

Yep, problem with some people is that they have the means, the motive, but doesn't have the knowledge to make good use of both.

Even if his school went the charter school route and did a lottery that still doesn't help the situation. A good education shouldn't be luck of the draw or a pay to win system it should be given to everyone in that community.

So you think Lebron should fix public school? Because we are discussing Lebron here and I just wanted to show you that he making it private doesn't make it paid (he could allow all students free tuition if he wanted).

Then we should fix the public school. Giving vouchers to people that can't afford private schools would be nice but we shouldn't have people trying to escape shitty public schools in the first place. At that point we're just dancing around the problem instead of actually fixing it all while people that don't get vouchers or can't afford to go to private schools suffer.

Again, so should we complain that Lebron isn't correcting the public school?

Let me tell you something. bang per buck private will likely be better than public even though it still have to return profit so the "cost" would need to be a little smaller than the revenue.

But exactly because they have to profit they try their best to offer value.

If you were earning say... $20,000-$30,000 a year, it is insanely difficult to have the disposable income in order to create appropriate investments in order to garner significant wealth.
But if you already had millions in the bank, you already have the disposable cash to invest and build wealth from.

That doesn't mean you cannot become wealthy from a low income... Or someone wealthy can become poor... It is just simply far easier for someone who started out with millions to build more wealth as they have larger financial buffers.

Indeed. I am not discrediting his achievement, it is a pretty significant one, just merely framing it in an appropriate context.

Now... If he was someone who built ALL of that wealth from only a couple of bucks inside their parents Garage like a few other billionaires, then that is an even better achievement, wouldn't you think?

Sorry man, but the reason those garage enterpreneur or Trump would become billionaires have much more to do with offering something of great value to costumers than they having few Ks or Ms in the bank.

At the end of the day it comes down to the fact that no private school can benefit the same amount of people as a public school. Even if there's this huge exodus of 20% of all kids in that community leaving to go to LeBron's charter or private school my problem is that still leaves 80% at the shitty public school. If you fix the public school you wouldn't have people trying to leave or find more options
