My GTX 580 was the graphic card I used the longest: 36 months. I skipped the whole Kepler microarchitecture (600 and 700 series) and finally upgraded from GTX 580 to 970. So far it looks that I'll use the 1070 even longer if nothing unexpected happens (or I'm in a buying mood when a good deal appears). Extending the warranty to five years for 20 bucks wasn't my worst decision... even if I upgrade before that, the 1070 will run well in my brother's PC the rest of the warranty and beyond. |
The card I abused the most was my previous one. That HD 5850 lasted from 2010 to 2016, until its fan gave up. What an amazing card.
I hope I'll be able to rid my 1070 almost that much, but it will depend on when the next consoles will launch and how big of a jump they'll bring to the table. But even then, I'd still beable to use this one a bit more as I don't buy games at launch.
Please excuse my bad English.
