Sony - PSN or XBOX Live? - View Post

Including a headset with the 360 was a good move. It doesn't make up for dropping a HD in 1 SKU, but it helps for online gaming. I don't know why more people don't have headsets since just about any kind works with PS3...

It's also true that the average age of PS3 owners are older than 360 users, so there are fewer annoying kids. That's what I hear from IGN and 1UP podcasts all the time, too.

I would rather have more annoying people that I can mute than fewer people with headsets, so Live does have that advantage.

I would like to know what all this extra content people are talking about is. I don't count movie rentals/purchases because they are a ripoff compaed to what I can get with netflix or blockbuster. I understand the convenience, although you do have to wait for a download, but you don't get special features and rentals only get you 24 hours. If I'm going to download lower quality, I'll use bittorrent...but if that's the extra content, fine, Live wins that...but...

Look at the amount of content this week on PSN: a game, 4 demos, tons of trailers for games and movies, add-on content, MGS database, etc. Does Live really get that much? Also, for half the price of Live for a year, you can get Qore which is going to have even more content and beta invites.

I would say at this moment XBL is better, but after the 2.40 update I think the edge is clearly with PSN. As Rocketpig and others have said, dedicated servers are a huge bonus for PSN. Also, I downloaded several gigs from the update tonight. The last month, at least, I've gotten full speed from my router on downloads. Great speed lately.
