Rohani is a leader you can at least talk to, but all Trump does is attack him and his country (starting from even before he became president).

I second this. Rouhani was very pro-West, was trying hard to mend ties and Zarif even had a solid relationship with John Kerry. Many of Iran's actions are inexcusable, but Rouhani's hands were mostly tied and he had to face significant resistance from the most radical hardliners to enact change.

If Americans needed to vilify Iran for their domestic gains, at least they could have targeted the Supreme Leader instead of the President (who will likely fall in favor of another hardliner).

Anyone with common sense could have seen that coming. But hey, whatever to spite Obama and the EU.
