Better still, the developer will launch a season of free weekly updates.

>>Only two years? I thought it was more.

Hearthstone devs reveal the new Doctor Boom legendary card (Updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/official-hearthstone-stream-about-to-reveal-a-batch-of-new-cards-from-the-boomsday-project/
Blizzard will unveil some of the new cards coming our way in The BoomsDay Project, the upcoming Hearthstone expansion that was announced earlier this month. The event will be hosted by Hearthstone senior designer Peter Whalen and Brian Kibler, noted card pro and one-half of the Hearthstone's ultimate power couple.
Update: Brian Kibler just wrapped up today's The Boomsday Project reveal stream, and the headline is that Blizzard brought out the big boy himself. The good doctor is back, but his new form is very different to the ubiquitous minion that found his way into pretty much every deck back in the Goblins vs Gnomes era. The new Dr Boom, subtitled 'Mad Genius', is still a 7-Mana legendary card, but he's now a 'Hero card' exclusive to the Warrior class. That means that when you play him, he'll replace your existing hero and a trigger a bunch of additional benefits. These are: gain 7 armor immediately, all your Mechs acquire the keyword 'Rush' (enabling them to attack other minions on the turn they're played), and an upgraded hero power called 'Big Red Button'.

Last week, Ubisoft teased a Ghost Recon Wildlands crossover with Rainbow Six Siege coming with the launch of Special Operation 2, the second of four free updates planned for Wildlands' Year 2. Today it revealed which Rainbow Six operators will be joining the party in Bolivia: The Navy SEAL Valkyrie, GIGN's Twitch, and Caveira of BOPE, who's gone off the grid and on a homicidal rampage.

Rocket League loot box odds revealed
https://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-league-loot-box-odds-revealed/
After a year overflowing with loot box and pay-to-win controversies, loot boxes are now steadily being phased out, with many studios adopting battle pass-style business models, outright removing loot boxes from their games, or disclosing the odds of their loot boxes to maintain transparency. Rocket League developer Psyonix joined the latter group earlier today: the math behind Rocket League's loot crates is now out in the wild thanks to a recent blog post.

Megaton Rainfall will finally get VR support on PC next month
https://www.pcgamer.com/megaton-rainfall-will-finally-get-vr-support-on-pc-next-month/
Megaton Rainfall was one of the sleeper hits of 2017, and a quick glance at some gameplay footage is enough to understand why. You play as an "indestructible interdimensional superbeing" who can fly at roughly a billion miles per hour, around a planet that is roughly the size of the real planet Earth. Along the way you'll encounter procedurally generated cities harried by massive alien vessels. Naturally, you must destroy these aliens, though the city will likely suffer a lot of collateral damage, too.

Fortnite Battle Royale is free, but Fortnite Save the World—the PvE portion that got the ball rolling last year—is not. It's available for purchase in different flavours of "Founder's Packs," which include various hero and weapon start packs, special weapons, and other such in-game loot. Back in March, Epic confirmed that Founder's Pack owners would also get some new skins, although a date hadn't been set at that time. Now it has.

Resident Evil 2 remake devs worried about 'ridiculous' giant alligator fight
https://www.pcgamer.com/resident-evil-2-remake-devs-worried-about-ridiculous-giant-alligator-fight/
The Resident Evil 2 remake will include Tofu, Hunk and that big bastard alligator, we learned last month. But the latter didn't come easy.
In conversation the Daily Star, Capcom producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, say they toyed with cutting the hulking crocodilian entirely as they felt it jarring against the remake's darker tone. They were always wary, though, of fan backlash.

If Anthem doesn't succeed, it won't be the end of BioWare, thinks ex-studio designer
https://www.pcgamer.com/if-anthem-doesnt-succeed-it-wont-be-the-end-of-bioware-thinks-ex-studio-designer/
Last month, Baldur's Gate lead designer James Ohlen left BioWare after 22 years of service. Prior to his departure, Ohlen worked on Anthem. He reckons the upcoming action RPG will do well at launch—but it won't mark the end of the studio, should it flop.
Speaking to Game Informer (via gamesindustry.biz), Ohlen says he thinks EA sees BioWare as a "long-term" part of the company.

>>They won't close it, obviously, but I'm sure there would be plenty of lay-offs.
