I'm not American but in the EU we've had a history of Russian operatives poisoning people who disagree with the higher ups so it's safe to say many of us would trust our own countries before their Government let alone any other Country's. Your own intelligence agencies may have a shady history, most western countries' intel organisations do, but best believe as corrupt as they are their interests are closer to your own than any third party and that's the point.
