Well, the memory controller would be one of the tweaks I talked about as Xavier uses a LPDDR4 controller that would need to get updated to use the new memory.

The other tweak, tho this one would be harder to make, is to get rid of the Tensor Cores of Volta, as they are mostly useless for gaming (except Ray Tracing, but no one should expect that with this chip). That could lead to a smaller and more efficient chip... or they could use the extra space for something else.

As for the DDR5 standard, the article you posted said that there isn't one yet, and Samsung has simply gone ahead and made its own chips that may need to get changed once the standard gets announced. So trying to guess how the desktop DDR5 RAM would be from the Samsung chips is a bit of a stretch.

You are correct, however... Part of the DDR5 standard has been ratified and some standards related to that DRAM established, they are just working on the finer nuances.

Sooner the better IMHO.

World of Warcraft now supports DirectX 12, does no longer support fullscreen exclusive mode

It appears that Blizzard has made some noteworthy rendering changes to World of Warcraft as this massive MMORPG does no longer support the DX9 API. Instead, the team has now added full support for Microsoft’s latest API, DirectX 12, meaning that players can now choose between DX11 and DX12.
While it appears that the team has not implemented any exclusive DX12 features or improvements, it’s a pretty cool addition. Also, do note that the DX12 mode is only available right now for AMD users. NVIDIA users can enable it, however performance takes a noticeable hit (so for now stick with DX11).
Blizzard has also removed the fullscreen exclusive mode that it supported before. As such, gamers can now choose between Windowed and Fullscreen Windowed. Moreover, the game has ditched its old “low, medium, high” settings and is now using sliders from 1 to 10.

Hoping Blizz does something similar for StarCraft, Diablo 3 and Overwatch, especially Overwatch, the reduced CPU overhead that DX12 brings would be great for the old spare rig.
