First play super metroid. It doesn't matter if you use an emulator or buy the game for the snes. Don't play prime 3 without playing prime 1 and 2. You won't know too much about the story, and it would be less enjoyable. Plus alot of people don't like metroid games, and it's better if you try out prime 1 first. You could find it for $8.
