They'll obviously need a refresh, but you can't just rush that sort of thing. A year or two from now it will be far more economical and realistic to upgrade without killing wallets or battery life, and it will likely conveniently coincide with the release of next-gen consoles. They're still selling great without either the coming pokemon/smash games or future full-fledged pokemon game releasing yet, which will essentially guarantee strong sales...

To make people feel as if they've purchased an outdated system a mere two years after it released and at exorbitant, unnecessary cost while likely killing the portability factor of it would be the height of foolishness.
