For the past year, I've come across characters from the Touhou series not knowing who they were or where they were from.  So I've learned that the characters and the series go way back in the SHMUP genre (shoot em up).  In the past, I've played a handful of SHMUPs, but more along the lines of western theme titles of conventional spaceships and fighter planes and such as Lifeforce and Gradius.  I guess Xevious was classified as a SHMUP as well.  But cutie anime girls shooting the hell out of oblivion was something totally different even though I'm a fan of JRPGs.  So I decided to preorder this:

This is the Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded Limited Edition which is NOT a SHMUP.  It's actually a roguelike RPG since I'm an RPG fan.  So this will be my first experience with a Touhou game.  Preorders were almost sold out on NIS America's website, and I didn't want to miss out in case this games was a keeper.  The original non-reloaded version scored around 70% so I'd hope the reloaded version would score higher.  Normally, I do not depend on review scores to determine my purchase, but I'll have to admit that I was going into this one rather blindly.  But seeing that the Touhou games have been in different genres as of late, it seems that the Touhou games depend mainly on their characters as a selling point rather than the game itself.

So do we have any Touhou fans here?  Will this game make me a Touhou fan?  Are the Touhou girls a good source for waifus?  I just hope this buy will be worth my dollars.
