Conan Exiles is now Funcom’s best-selling and fastest-selling game of all time

Funcom announced today that Conan Exiles, the recently launched open world survival game, is now both the best-selling and fastest-selling game in the company’s history. Conan Exiles has now surpassed Funcom’s previous record-holder, the 2008 massively multiplayer game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which sold 1.4 million units by the time it went free-to-play three years after its initial release.

Steam has revealed its best selling games of 2018 so far, and as you'd probably expect there are few surprises. That doesn't mean there aren't any surprises, though: among the top 12 selling titles is Jurassic World: Evolution, rubbing shoulders with the likes of PUBG, Rocket League, Dota 2 and Rainbow Six Siege.

Bahax Emulation has shared a new video, showing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled running in 4K resolution with 60fps on the best Playstation 3 emulator, RPCS3. TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is an enhanced remake of the 1991 arcade game, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, that came out in 2009 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Well, it appears that alongside this pack, modders have replaced Noctis with some beloved characters from other games. As such, the following mods bring Kratos from God of War, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7, Squall Leonheart from Final Fantasy 8 and… Spiderman to Final Fantasy XV.

Focus Home Interactive and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. veterans at Vostok Games have announced that Battle Royale FPS Fear the Wolves will enter Steam Early Access on July 18th. Combining traditional last-man-standing gameplay with PVE elements and unique radiation, weather, and endgame extraction mechanics, Fear the Wolves promises an intense, atmospheric experience in the decaying ruins of Chernobyl.

Under the banner of Causal Bit Games, the pair's debut venture Battle Princess Madelyn is a Ghosts' N Ghouls-inspired retro sidescroller. It's got a new trailer, and a new Kickstarter backer update.

The ongoing saga of loot boxes took an interesting turn last week when France's gambling regulatory body ARJEL weighed in with its 2017-18 activity report. The document addresses concerns about loot boxes, which came under increased scrutiny late last year, and states that microtransactions in videogames "are undermining public policy goals for gambling." It also called for some sort of combined European strategy to address the challenges posed by their growing ubiquity in mainstream videogames. But it also determined that from a legal perspective, loot boxes generally do not qualify as a form of gambling.

I'm not entirely convinced that the death of Cayde-6 that's coming in Destiny 2: Forsaken won't be undone with some superhero-style twist, but Bungie is certainly playing it as though he's gone for good. In a new "Story Insight" trailer on Game Informer, Bungie developers talked about the impact his loss will have on the game, and the more "personal" style of narrative that will result.

Far Cry 5's latest patch brings with it its much-anticipated Photo Mode. Title Update 8 will roll out following routine maintenance later today.
Available via the main menu in all Solo gameplay modes—including DLC packs and solo Far Cry Arcade maps—Photo Mode lets players tinker with the time of day, field of view, frames, filters and even their character's facial expressions. PS4-exclusive God of War has shown what's possible on the latter front, and I'm now most interested to see what humorist snappers do in Hope County from hereon.

Everything we know about Fallout 76 so far suggests our next wasteland wander will be unlike its forerunners. For starters, Fallout 76 is an online multiplayer survival game. And while it's not "full-on PvP", it's less singleplayer-focused than what we're used to.
In conversation with gamesindustry.biz, Bethesda director Todd Howard assured prospective players that while Fallout 76 takes a games-as-service approach—similar to The Elder Scrolls Online—this is not the permanent outlook of the developer and/or its future games.
