While I don't agree with the move, I do find it interesting that the OP tries to completely marginalize the "other reasons".
I mean, the Democratic Republic of the Congo was just made a member of a human rights council. Let that sink in for a moment. If the US truly wanted to hide its own issues then the best course of action would be to STAY AN ACTIVE MEMBER. That way they could working to sweep it under the rug like everyone else.
Ironically, leaving makes them seem more honest.
