It wasn't the Austria game, the German team consistently performed very poorly in the past weeks/months.
Given that Mexico is one of the best teams world-wide, and did exactly what was known before, the blame fully lays on the German coach who seems to have lost any intuition and planning that lead to his many successes in the past. No surprise at all that Germany lost, and I doubt they will pass into the next stage given there does not seem to be any plan on their side. Sounds brutal but that's the way it is.
