I guess the last one? I'm no expert of course like you seem to be.

As for GOW, the final game looks amazing, but i felt the E3 trailers had much more realistic lighting or maybe better shading?, and better hair physics  are obvious .

The secret to mine? Nothing was downgraded. All I did was rotate the lighting path (and/or) changed it to Indirect vs Direct (all cosmetics and not a limitation of hardware or a company blowing hot air).

Regarding God of war, the same applies. The hair physics were unchanged. All they did was tone down the wind effect. Lighting? Simple rotation of the sample. Nothing was downgraded in that regard, either. I looked closely at all of the data (which is amazing, mind you, what they pulled off on a console). None of that was reduced from what was there prior. None. And, in some instances, like I said, Normal Maps were improved, Specular Maps were either added or enhanced, and skin shaders had their SSS turned up.

That is why I used my project. You couldn't even tell that nothing was downgraded. The problem with today's journalists is they often spread this type of misinformation, leading to this widespread panic of "downgrades", when in reality, a simple lighting adjustment can make all the difference. In some cases, it is obvious, such as many Ubisoft projects (with reduction in geometry, the lighting type (pre-baked vs dynamic), or shaders being completed dampened for the sake of.....whatever).

Maybe i was too quick to say downgrade. I could see the upgrades, but the lighting in that E3 trailer just looks better to me, i guess its the condition which does make a huge difference.
