The initial estimate was 13-15 million, which was revised down to 12 million early this year. Still interesting that after overshipping so much to get that 10.4 million sold to retailers by the end of 2006, they could only sell an additional 1.2 million to retailers over the next six months! And that includes the launch of the Elite!
According to this site, 360 has actually sold to consumers about 2.3 million in the first six months of 2007. So worldwide stocks have gone from 2.6 million sitting on store shelves to about 1.5 million, a more normal number.
I think there are more PS3's on shelves right now though since a week or two ago Sony said they sold 5.5 million to retailers and have only sold through 3.6 million of that. We'll find out for sure when Sony does their Q1 statement.
