Eh, this has probably been said already, but I'll say it here.
Sony don't give a shit about E3, providing an entertaining conference hardly matters to them, as the PS4 will sell no matter what, and Sony has several events other than E3 to announce and discuss games. Microsoft can't really afford to do that, a lot of people have been stigmatizing the Xbox One in the past two years and they need to consistently deliver interesting conferences with a lot of third party support in order to maintain the fact that they are actually competing with Sony. Don't really know how to articulate it well, but, I guess you could say that for a monopolistic market...the actions provided by both companies seem natural for their positions. That said, Sony has officially lost touch with E3, thanks to those disconcerting comments by Shawn at the start and burning 30 minutes in the beginning.
