Agreed. Gen 7 really sucked, but even then I could carve out my niche. Gen 8 is even better and I got many games I want to play, just need the money.
For entertainment as a whole. All I can say is it would suck to live in the 70s or 80s and only have tv with ads as your choice for entertainment. Nowadays you can choose whatever you want to watch, whether they have a ton of ads or not.
