What about the CPU?

You assumed to much and that is why you got it wrong. Most of Sony launches are outside of holidays exactly to grant them more limelight and improve sales. So it isn't preposterous to say that MS could also look for the best possible time to release their game to grant more attention as well. And considering Sony 1st party launches this gen it's fair to consider that not launching close would benefit MS.

Until MS really shows commitment to deserve a Victory I don't see anything nice about they winning, because the premature release with faulty HW on X360 combined with early killing of og Xbox isn't something that deserves a victory, their strategy with X1 also doesn't, their lack of 1st parties also doesn't. And the original Xbox would have a hard time winning considering all PS2 done and how much of a headstart it had. So MS really need to do a lot with their 4th console to really say it would be nice for them to win the next 2 gens.

You know that Sony had issues with devs using their Cell CPU last gen. MS didn't have that exact same issue with the 360.

I didn't really assume too much. You were basically hinting that their game would be doomed if it went alongside a Sony 1st party, and we know how clogged third party release shcedules get, so that goes without saying.

MS are looking for their best possible point in time to release their games. it just so happens that it's release schedule is close to Sony's. That doesn't mean MS has to up and go book another month, like it's some sort of pre-booked holiday plan.

MS is still in the game. Look at Sega's "commitment". They basically bailed at the last attempt with the Dreamcast. You say MS has lost all 3 gens it has been in, yet they haven't thrown in the towel like Sega once had.

MS can win in their own way, and people not interested in what they have to sell would still call it a "non win" or "not deserved". We see this all the time in almost anything that has competition involved.

MS could do a lot with their next console, and they can still be called "inferior". It's never going to change the minds of those who were never interested in it. I know for sure it'll never change mine, just like how Sony hasn't changed my mind from the "get a second job". People that are interested in the next Xbox will buy the next Xbox, and those that aren't interested won't buy it. it's that simple.

That said, I would welcome a new "leader", a new change of pace to the so called status quo. I wouldn't even mind if Nintendo took next gen by storm.
