It must be fantastic to live in this world of yours...

You probably missed the GoW thread with multiple links of reviewers spoiling they would give low scores to get clicks.

Journalism lost professionalism over 10 years or more ago.

This journalist? Go and look for the meta of GT5, and considering publications have editors who approve content, the reviewer in question didn't publish hidden. And I don't make a job of looking what happens with any reviewers since I don't give then relevance since their work is poor. For GT games I stick to the handfull or less that are specialist in racing/simulation for the gaming part and DF and Arstecnica for the eye candy. Most of other reviewers don't even know how to review a game of this type.

Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or which the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review. Before being averaged, the scores are weighted according to the critic's fame, stature, and volume of reviews.

You are focusing on what doesn't matter.  84 is great rating, when looking at sampling like these you should ignore top 5 rating and lowest 5 rating, what matters is the average. Even if you remove one or two bias reviews the metascore will remain mostly the same, you might jump one basis point.

You are also missing the point of most reviews, Reviewers don't review GT5 base on exception from fans of the series or genre. They review for their respective audience and voice their personal experience on the game. Reviewer shouldn't review games based on the game's fan base expectation, they review base on their personal experience and appreciation for the game. They voice their opinion and that will be assigned a score.... the metascore will eventual ignored their opinion and provide a proper rating based on much larger aggregate of reviewers.

Gran Turismo 5 got raving reviews.... It doesn't even have one negative review.... The reviews that you are complaining about wont change the metascore.
You entire complaint about GT5 Scores is based on what you want has a fan of the series. The fact that GT5 did not even receive one negative review and your complaining about its score prove this point. Not every one will like a particular genre and will be ask to review for their fan bases.  Metascore don't only take reviews from expert in the genre or fan of the genre.... that's not how it work.

Seems like you ignored your own point on how all reviewers are professional.

And sorry to burst your bubble, but games should be evaluated on what they try to accomplish and not on what you would like them to be.

And seems like the 2 reviewers that gave GT5 40 and 50 got decomissioned.

But sure, a 40 on a 80 average is impossible to be a troll.
