I'm tired of this overemphasis on diversity spilling into our entertainment.

There is zero problem having a female lead, multiple games have done it and done well.

It's when you start noticing criticism about a game lacking it because it should have that the problem starts, people start to bug devs and label them and they start to affect the thinking about what should it (the dev) NEED to use for his next game to avoid that backslash.

When there is a though of need instead of want for what to create the dev lost his free will, and that's sad, really sad.

As if devs ever truly have free will. In fact, they are almost always beholden to the demands of their publisher.
