The 3 Dark Souls games are all very close in quality to me. Demon's Souls is good too, but not quite as good as the Dark Souls games. I really hated Bloodborne. I don't think of the Souls games as action games, and the attempt to make them into an action game was just a terrible move.

I see this argument a lot from BB haters. I started playing souls games the first day Demon Souls came out back in 2009 and ever since then my playstyle has always been 2 handing a weapon and using Invincibilty frames and rolling to dodge and position myself to attack. In Demon Souls it was the Meat Cleaver, in Dark souls the Zweihander, in Dark Souls 2 the Mastodon Greatsword, etc.... although I had very little problems with this style i cant help but admit that it was somewhat clumsy and awkward looking. The only thing bloodborne did was make it look cool as shit and flow much better. I also know others who would use a 1handed weapon and parry dagger just for riposting very similarly to bloodbornes gun. So although I understand the people who always relied on shields to breeze through the games( i was forced to use them once or twice for certain difficult fights aka Magnus), I dont like it when they try to throw shit at bloodborne for not beings"souls like" enough when the reality is that the playstyle of bloodborne has always been around since Demon's Souls.

It's true that this playstyle has been around since the beginning.  What I don't like about Bloodborne is that they basically force you into this playstyle.  My favorite thing about the Souls games is that you can play them how you want.  The idea being that there is a bunch of challenging stuff out there that is really going to try to kill you.  Get through it however you want.  Tank up or go light armor, fast melee or slow heavy melee, or cast or use bows or use shield or parry or whatever.

Bloodborne takes away a lot of that freedom.  Shields gone, magic gone, decent ranged weapons are gone, armor gone.  You MUST play dodge, melee.  The devs were saying, "we are trying to make an action game you have to play it the way we want you to".  Good games give the player freedom.  The other Souls games have a lot more freedom than Bloodborne does.
