I think this is more of an issue about how the hardware is built now.
They are like neutered computers now.
32-bit era and before were machines with very specific things they were capable of.
Sega Saturn rocked at Sprites, but couldn't do 3D too well.
NEO GEO, everything is made of sprites.
Nintendo is the only platform that still has that proprietary "can't make your game the same anywhere else" mentality.
I dig it and agree I would like to see exclusive games come through like they used to across all platforms, though admittedly its not the best thing for consumers.
