You need to just take a look around to see all the knee jerkingggoing on after an event. And, no, not really. Enforcement would do wonders.Again, most shootings are gang related. School shootings are statistically insignificant n |
People are dying. You can't call it a knee jerk reaction if this problem has been killing us forever. Its not 'new'. Only ignored. In most cases these deaths don't even get much coverage because that would be the only thing we would have time for.
I'm sure we can agree on something: Enforcement of current laws is needed and necessary and the inaction of our lawmakers to follow through is resulting in more deaths. Its a waste of time to do more debating than actually doing something. We can take a multi-step approach to analyze our current laws, loopholes, criminal access, mental health, and then take the system that we have and alter it in an effort to drive down shootings. Objectively. Smartly and consistently. We are smart enough to save gun ownership while striving for safety.
Mark my words, if people just continue to ignore it, there will eventually be a breaking point where the outcry of the people will force the government to take steps that reduce guns period. I think most responsible reasonable gun owners understand that self reform is necessary before the people take the government with the express intention of taking guns away.
