Not one in particular, I've been enjoying Elder scroll, Fallout, Xenoblade, & Fire emblem I also like Dragon quest from SE, If there has to be a replacement then I think Bethesda got the majority of my time

Maybe experiencing the old games at their time makes a difference but that's my point, FF13, & FF15 have their moments but somehow they feel incomplete, SE loses of FF talents is the major factor I guess, but I don't think it's the only thing, I believe that the company is unwilling to take major risks and huge investments and we can see that clearly in all their titles

Seems like you want to count WRPGs as JRPG and from what I have played FE is very much standard FF Tactics without much groundbreaking, Elder Scroll is just a boring game for me =p won't comment on Fallout because I never got interested in playing, DQ I haven't played in ages and Xenoblade I hated their PS2 entry.

Want it or not, Pokemon/Digimon/Monster Hunter Stories/Yokai Watch/World of Final Fantasy are JRPG

Most would say that a JRPG isn't defined as a RPG made in Japan, but on its elements... anyway as I said if one want to consider Pokemon a JRPG (no problem in my opinion) he shouldn't say FF recently lost it's lead as the main JRPG because pokemon sell more and have more talking going on.

That's the last great FF I've played

Xenoblade is a Nintendo IP, since when it was on ps2? That is Xenosaga. Xenoblade is real-time RPG with strategy and chain attack/combo to take advantage of enemy weakness like a MMO single player, not tradition turn-base like Xenogears or Xenosaga. It also have very big world, especially with Xenoblade X is full open world, you can go anywhere you want. About Pokemon is a JRPG, i can agree with you that he shouldn't say FF recently lost it's lead as the main JRPG, a bit mistake here, he should mention the popular of the brand or the 1st rank of JRPG that is FF, not the sale

Final Fantasy hasn't been the premier RPG franchise for Japan in years.... The last mainline Final Fantasy in the series to score high with critcs was Final Fantasy 12 - and that was back in 2006...
